Gaslamp Quarter

The Gaslamp Quarter a Victorian style historic part of downtown San Diego. The buildings date to the late 1800s and the name of area is taken from the streets that are lined with gas lamps. There are lots of cool, refurbished buildings and many little shops and cafes in the area.

The Hard Rock Cafe has a really cool stained glass ceiling along with its usual array of guitars, records, signed photos and hanging motorbikes. We even found a Westfields Shoppingtown to browse through. Apparently there are Westfields everywhere.

Balboa Park is a park is an urban park which looks as if it were taken from southern Spain. The buildings are built in a style which looks totally out of place from the usual San Diego landscape. But because you are in the middle of a large park, its like you are transported into another world. There are heaps of museums and gardens to walk through and explore like an aerospace msuseum, a automotive museum, museum of art, natural history and many exibits which are scattered amongst the other buildings.
