LA to SF

Since Im over a week behind on this blog, Im gonna make the next few short and sweet :)

Just about every book on California will tell you the drive from LA to SF along Highway 1 is a must...so we did it! We met up with Levi and Hana and hit the road! But first we had to get out of LA. They say Highway 405 is always busy not matter what time it is and we experienced it first hand. Bumper to bumper for well over an hour just on that highway.

After a couple of hours we found ourselves in Santa Barbara. A nice little town amongst a nice sandy beach, palm trees, cool shops and well manicured streets. Judging by the locals and the surroundings, the town seems to attract many with a little more money to spend than we do. We managed to find a nice little hotel which was quite reasonable however. A good place to stop over night and look around.

For such a nice place we found an unusually large proportion of homeless people. Many were sleeping on the beach. Not a bad place to be homeless.

Further up the coast as we got driving we came across a sign for an Elephant Seal viewing area...so we investigated and found some on the beach! Actually we found some squirrels first who seem to be everywhere!

These fellas are enormous! This one below was probably twice my size. The rest of them who look dead were in fact malting. Im not sure if that was the reason but they sure do smell. We were at least 20 metres away the stench was foul. These guys really know how to stink up the joint.

More on the drive in the next post!

Food watch: Had In and Out Burgers in LA. Probably the best cheeseburger Ive ever had. Yum.
